Individual Blog Progress

Hello :)

This is an update on our recent progress..
We finally found a place to shoot, which I think was..on the ground floor (I will later find out which room number it was exactly!)
We did most of the filming on Wednesday 9th December 2009.
As we didn't have any free periods all together, we decided to film after college on wednesday afternoon. Therefore there would be no background noise whilst we were filming. This worked to our advantage as we got the most important filming parts done.
We had a couple of problems whist trying to film to clocks.
PROBLEM NUMBER 1# - First of all we had to find a clock that we could easily chnage the time, unfortunatly every clock in every classroom is filled with electric clock so we would not have been able to use them.
Luckily we got permission from the nice people in out colleges' EMA office to use their big (easily to change the time) clock. So Problem 1# was no more.
A day or so after we uploaded the footage onto a mac, but sadly found PROBLEM NUMBER 2# with the clocks - The footage we had filmed of the clocks (for the beginning of the sequence) was wonky, as the tripod was not straight. This meant we had to reshoot. But luckily the EMA office (who had previously given us permission to borrrow their clock) let us borrow it again. Problem 2# Solved.
PROBLEM NUMBER 3# with the clocks - We couldn't hold the clock in place without seeing the person's hand. Andy Hampson came up with the idea of filming on one of the tables as they were the same colour as the walls in the room. We did so and now the clock footage fits perfectly into the sequence. Problem 3#.
So once we had got this out of the way, we only had one more piece to film which was the shot of the teachers shoes before she arrives in the classroom. Cristina and I went to find a location and started to film the last piece of the sequence, whilst Chris and Ghislaine started to edit the previously filmed footage. We found a stair case which wasn't in use, and it didn't take long before we had the perfect shot.
When we had finished all of the filming, we started editing during free periods and during booked lesson time in the colleges' editing suite.
We started editing and found that the footage fitted well together, we only had two things to sort out which was the soudn for the clock shots and the mobile sound. We found the clock sound on 'garageband' and imported it into the sequence on Imovie.
We could not find the right sound for the mobile phone on garageband so we recorded it ourselves.
After we imported all of the footage and sound recordings we started to put it all together.
I shall update this blog again soon...to update you on our progress....

Charlotte :)
